Evasive Driving 2008 -- Three Seniors - Alyson, Ryan and Amanda - participated in the 2008 Evasive Driving challenge. The event was held at Elk Lake School District. Photos courtesy of advisor Rich Gravine and the Riverside School District.

Riverside High School presents Riverside Alive 2008. The district also hosted a technology showcase and the school board was presented with a technology award from the PSBA.

This fifth grader is "flying high" in competitive gymnastics.

(May 2nd - 4th) - The Riverside Drama Club will be presenting The Sound Of Music in the high school auditorium. The play stars RHS seniors Megan Hines as Maria and Jim Armillay as Captain. Language arts teacher Ms. Christina Casale directs the play with musical direction by music teacher Ron Geise and technical direction by industrial arts teacher Craig Reifler.

Three students from Riverside High School recently competed in the 2008 Pennsylvania High School Computer Fair. The regional competition was sponsored by NEIU 19 and was held at the Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County. 16 school districts competed in a variety of subjects including Animation, Logo design, web page design, digital movie, Multimedia presentation, Graphic Design, and desktop publishing. Amanda Yackobowitz won second place in the Desktop Publishing category with her re-illustration of the children’s book Peter Rabbit. Breanna Jones took home the third place award in Graphic Design with her project called PEACE, which featured imagery inspired by the artist John Lennon. John Fauver also competed in the Graphic Design category with a CAD design of a house with a three dimensional model. Picture compliments of R.S.D.

Pat Powell, Jimmy Segilia, and Stevie Tayntor won 1st place in web page design. Their teacher is Miss Solomon and the director is Mrs. Chisdock. They are from the Riverside Jr. Sr. High School. Note: this is the second year in a row that Pat and Jimmy are district champions!

Wal-Mart and Taylor Commons presented the Riverside School District with a gift of $25,000.00 to purchase three new scoreboards and a scorer's table for the two high school gyms recently. Two end zone snap clocks for our football stadium will also be purchased with these funds. The Wal-Mart at Taylor Commons (at the top of Taylor Hill) is scheduled to open some time in 2008.

These were all sixth grade students.

Gronski promoted to brigadier general in National Guard.

Riverside High School junior, Joe Klebon, was recently awarded the FOX56 Toyota High School Sports Show Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance against Old Forge in the 5th game of the season. The Riverside Junior ran over, around and through arch-rival Old Forge, totaling 389 yards in a 42-14 victory. Klebon carried 25 times for 286 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught an 18 yard touchdown pass, returned a kickoff 85 yards for a score and kicked six extra points.
